Trip to Le Fosso, Brittany 2015

Review of 2015 visit by Penny BaileyLe Fosso trip to Brittany

This is the second year that we attended the trip to Le Fosso with DFSG and what a week we had.

Fantastic weather, meeting up with familiar faces and enjoying the hospitality of Mike and Hilary (oh, and yes, catching up with the animals!).

As soon as we had unpacked, the boys were off into the wilderness not to be seen until evening when food beckoned. It is a tranquil spot where they can enjoy whizzing around in the woods and playing hide and seek, not to mention the toasting of marshmallows over the fire.

Mike had arranged a variety of trips including the Musee de la Resistance en Argoat and a visit to Branfere Zoo. We also drove to Josselin to visit the Chateau and had a great morning at a local goat farm where we enjoyed tasting some of the cheeses.

Le Fosso Holiday May 2015

Arrive Saturday 23rd May 2015 (after 3pm)
Depart Saturday 30th May 2015 (by 10am)
After another very successful holiday this year, we are once again delighted that Michael and Hilary Townsend, our English hosts at Le Fosso, have booked us in for another week for next year at their wheelchair accessible accommodation in Brittany, France, near the city of Rennes. Full details can be found on their website Le Fosso is fully accessible and equipment such as hoists or electric beds can be hired in locally at your own expense. Please ask for a quotation. Each family will be responsible for their own travel arrangements. Just go to http://www.lefosso.comand look at their travel links. The Brittany Ferries discount offer on the information sheet is for 25% off ferry bookings made before the end of October. After that it then returns to 20%. Also here is the link for Eurotunnel, which is quick and easy for wheelchair users.

Le Fosso has quoted us £331 per person for our holiday next May, with a 10% discount for children under the age of 13. We are able to offer a 25% discount and therefore the cost per person will be £248, and £223 for each child under 13. This should help towards the travel costs. This price will be for half board plus three days of activities and picnics, including all the entrance fees to visits etc. with guided tours. Half board includes a continental breakfast and four course evening meal. On the non-activity days you will need to provide your own lunch. Mike and Hilary provide a buffet lunch on the Sunday at a cost of 10 euros each, which is a very competitive price also there are not many restaurants open on Sunday locally. Please email me if you would like a payment plan. Booking priority will be given to families who haven’t been on one of our holidays before. We can allocate rooms more effectively if parents or carers are willing to share with your family member who has Duchenne MD. If you would like to book a space for your family on this holiday please return the booking form to me, Christina Biggs at with a cheque for £60 per person as a deposit, payable to Duchenne Family Support Group. There are very limited spaces, only a maximum of 35, so please reply ASAP. Alternatively if you prefer to use online banking (details below) please still complete this form and return to me stating that you have made an online payment. Please note that this deposit is non-returnableso I would strongly advise you to take out travel insurance in case you need to cancel due to any medical issues. The balance will need to be paid by end of March 2015. Supplementary Charges: to be paid in euros at the end of your stay (if used or hired). Hire of specialist equipment, e.g. hoist, medical bed etc. Laundry service and hire of towels is 5 euros.
