picture_01.pngIntrepid fundraisers Chris Patterson and Mike Dean cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats last September for two great causes, DFSG and a hospital in Malawi. Despite not even having a bike when he agreed to the challenge, following some training and planning Chris managed to go the distance in just over two weeks.

Chris and Mike had a great send off from Land's End by Mike, Di and Rich Jones on Sunday 16th September 2012 and they arrived at John O' Groats at midday on the 1st October, with a few other cyclists heading away from the hamlet giving them a cheer. Chris says the final home stretch felt great – "the sun was shining, the wind was behind us and it was downhill"!

Journey stats:
Duration - 15 & 1/2 days
Mileage – 978 miles
Beers sampled - 28
Money raised - £7,899.50
That’s £8.07 per mile and one beer every 35 miles—well done Chris!

And Chris isn't the only one to do this marathon fundraiser for us – Richard Pike also cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats last year with his friends Tom and Dave, and they have raised £1873.50 so far! Sincere thanks to all of you.
