This year's conference took place in Coventry at the Hilton Hotel. We were fortunate as DFSG to be given a table for display right at the front of the hotel foyer. This made it a lot easier to interact with people and explain what the DFSG were all about.
We made contact with several new families as well as networking with health professionals who were also attending the conference. It was great to network like this and try and promote the charity as well as being there to support the families.
Our DFSG AGM sadly was poorly attended and therefore the current committee stays the same – however anybody reading this who feels they would like to get more actively involved with the group please contact me (Phillippa Farrant) to discuss further- we would be delighted to have some new members on the committee with new ideas of how to bring the charity forward.
There were workshops throughout the day covering topics such as physiotherapy, respiratory issues and psychological support.
We heard lots of news about the battle to push services in the NHS to support our families.
In the afternoon we were privileged to see awards being distributed to all sorts of inspiring people who have fund-raised, promoted, fought for and generally been active within the charity in the last year.
A good day overall.
